Background

In Southeast Asian countries, despite ongoing population growth and continued economic development, some nations have begun entering the stage of population aging. In response to the rapidly increasing and diversifying demand for healthcare, these countries have implemented measures such as expanding medical facilities, increasing the number of medical schools, and developing specialized training programs.

In Vietnam, along with population growth and aging, the demand for healthcare is also expanding, as reflected in the rising total healthcare expenditure and the growing complexity of medical services. However, in addition to the shortage of doctors and healthcare professionals, the quality of medical education remains inconsistent across regions. Furthermore, the development, implementation, and operation of clinical practice guidelines and professional protocols are still insufficient. These issues contribute to disparities in healthcare between urban and rural areas, a concentration of medical facilities and specialists in major cities, and the overloading of central hospitals.※1

To address these healthcare challenges in Vietnam, Hoan My Group is working to enhance the skills and knowledge of their medical staff through training programs based on international standards. In 2023, Hoan My Academy was established with the goal of offering advanced education and training programs for a wide range of healthcare stakeholders – from frontline medical staff to the management teams within the group and the wider healthcare sector. Through these efforts, Hoan My aims to improve the overall quality ofhealthcare services across its entire network.※2

Purpose and Scope of Collaboration between MRT and Hoan My

Founded in 2000, MRT Inc. originated from an internal support organization of doctors at the University of Tokyo Hospital. Since then, MRT has continuously expanded its healthcare human resource platform in Japan by supporting career development for doctors and medical professionals, providing medical information, and connecting talent with healthcare institutions. Currently, over 100,000 doctors are registered on MRT’s platform. The company is actively working to match highly specialized physicians with hospitals in need, while also collaborating with government agencies to address the issue of healthcare resource distribution.

Aiming to leverage its experience in Japan to help tackle healthcare challenges in Southeast Asia, MRT established MRT Global Management Pte. Ltd. (MRT GM) in Singapore in 2024, following the signing of a strategic partnership with Docquity—the largest doctor network platform in Southeast Asia. MRT GM is now expanding its operations in Vietnam, with the goal of becoming the leading platform for healthcare human resources and digital transformation in the ASEAN region.

Under this partnership, MRT GM and HMA—a unit of Hoan My Group—will collaborate in selecting and inviting expert physicians from MRT’s network of over 100,000 doctors to conduct medical seminars. These doctors will deliver lectures through online training programs and thematic seminars held multiple times a year, aimed at enhancing the professional knowledge and skills of doctors in Vietnam.
